Halogen bulbs are an advanced form of incandescent bulb technology. A main reason for the short lifespan of incandescent bulbs is the evaporation of tungsten inside the bulb. By adding a small amount of halogen gas (methyl bromide) to the bulb, a chemical reaction takes tungsten from the glass wall and deposits it back on the filament, thus extending the bulb's life. Halogen lighting operates at higher temperatures, which results in a whiter, brighter light and greater energy efficiency.

Using this Exo Terra halogen reptile lamp is easy. Just install it in a suitable lamp fixture in your reptile's habitat. Make sure the fixture can handle the heat generated by the lamp. As for the lighting cycle, you can use it during the day. If you want a 24 - hour cycle, combine it with a Night Heat Lamp or Infrared Basking Spot. Keep in mind that the lamp gets hot, so don't touch it when it's on or right after turning it off. Also, place it at a proper distance from your reptile to avoid overheating. For maintenance, simply turn off the lamp and wait for it to cool down before cleaning the fixture. Replace the bulb when it stops working to keep your reptile's environment well - lit and comfortable.
